NEWT’s Savings Makes Toyota-on-Front “Chuckle”

001With so many available options to consumers, the automotive sales industry is, without a doubt, one of the most competitive.  Add in the fast-paced environment of downtown Toronto and you can’t afford to lose customers due to a slow response or worse, downtime with your phone system.

Exceptional customer service is one of the main reasons the Toronto-based Downtown Automotive Group (DAG) has grown to ten locations, including Toyota on Front and Infinity Downtown, featuring six different brands since it started in 1992. Just over a year ago, DAG Director of Operations Ron Provost realized that their old phone system was not capable of delivering the high standards for customer service he set for himself and his team. He needed the latest and greatest for his growing enterprise and its multiple locations.

“I basically weeded it down to three companies in a very short time, not much longer after that I weeded it down to NEWT.” When asked what it was about the NEWT that set them apart he said, “they were more interested in our business and how they could make it better for us . . . not for what they need, but for what we need”.

One of the main reasons the NEWT Managed PBX has helped DAG provide better service for its customers is through innovative features like “Direct Inward Dial” (DID). With DID, employees in the system are each assigned a unique 10-digit phone number, making it easier for customers to reach them. “For customers it’s great. It’s no longer transfer, transfer, transfer… They just call me directly now,” explained Provost.

Response time to customers who leave a voicemail as well as time spent calling into the system is also minimized thanks to the “Voicemail to Email” feature. “If I’m off-site I’d have to phone in and see how many messages I have, if I have any messages,” commented Provost. He also added that sometimes checking voicemails also cost him on long-distance. “I could be in the middle of nowhere, make a long-distance call to my own system, just to find out there is nothing to return.” When looking at the difference “Voicemail to Email” now makes for him and the customers, “with NEWT, I don’t have to phone in, I know that when I get a voicemail, somebody’s looking for me and I usually answer it right away so the response time for the customer is great.”

“When I get my invoices from NEWT I kind of chuckle. From where we’ve been to where we are now, I mean it’s night and day!”

NEWT Business Phone System on the job

With advanced features and functionality usually comes higher prices, but Provost found out first-hand that isn’t the case at all with NEWT.

“When we took it over a ten-year period, our savings were about a quarter of a million dollars, so when it came down to the decision, there wasn’t much of a decision to be made”.

One of the main sources of savings DAG has realized is in long-distance charges, which through the NEWT Business Phone System have almost been eliminated. Provost describes a time when he showed his manager a five-page report of the long-distance calls made in December, but had removed the pricing. “Needless to say when he was panicking, it actually came to $17 dollars”. When reflecting on the difference the NEWT Managed PBX has made for the DAG, “when I get my invoices from NEWT I kind of chuckle, from where we’ve been to where we are now, I mean it’s night and day”.

NEWT is more than just great technology at a great price

But where NEWT has undoubtedly separated itself in Provost’s eyes has nothing to do with features, savings, or even the phones themselves, but with the people behind the NEWT Solution.

Where other providers may lack a sense of responsibility and loyalty to the customer, Provost was greeted with a different response when he switched to NEWT. “I found that when I phoned NEWT, I actually talked to a person . . . when you phone a company and they answer the phone live, it says a lot about that company.”

“I think the ongoing support is incredible . . . I think I know everybody by name, they all answer the phone with their name, you don’t have to ask for it, you know who you’re talking to, and things get resolved almost immediately”.

NEWT_bigbiz_300x250When asked if he would recommend the NEWT Managed PBX, Provost is open to speaking to anyone thinking of switching to NEWT: “recommendations are pretty tough from me, but I’ll tell you, give me a call anytime you want to talk about NEWT, I’m all ears. I have a tendency to spread good news and I think NEWT would be good for anybody.”

If you don’t know what “Mobilegeddon” is, your business is in trouble

MobilegeddonChange is upon us. As of April 21st, Google shook up the world of search results. This revolution, nicknamed “Mobilegeddon”, has the potential to be extremely destructive to many brands, especially small businesses.

Google has determined that about 60% percent of online users are using a mobile device to access web material. In reaction, Google rolled out their latest search algorithm which ranks websites higher based on how mobile-friendly they are. If a brands online material doesn’t adapt properly when being accessed from a mobile device, web traffic and online engagement will diminish significantly. Even small businesses or brands with a separate mobile site that redirects users to a different domain will be negatively impacted in their page rank.

Google Page Two: Where Brands go to Die

Google announced the change to the algorithm on the 26th of February in their webmaster blog and many companies either weren’t paying attention or couldn’t redevelop their site in just two-and-a-half months.

Plus, this was a surprise so few had the foresight to allocate the budget for a complete a redevelopment of their site to be responsive.

Quality content that educates the consumer has been the focus for Google over the past several years. Their insistence that brands be honest brokers when it comes to their products and services has resulted in a sea of change on how information is presented online. Richer, deeper, better, brands are rewarded with higher page rank based on their content.

Now, Google is adding in an emphasis on the user experience with this change. This transition is occurring because mobile usage continues to become more dominant within our technology based society. According to research from comScore, “smartphone usage is up 394 percent, and tablet usage is up a whopping 1,721 percent as these platforms now combine to account for 60 percent of digital media time spent…Mobile-only internet usage is also becoming more common, driven predominantly by Millennials, of which 21 percent are no longer using desktop computers to go online.”

This algorithm will focus on sites that have large text, easily accessible links and ones which can sufficiently resize based on the mobile device being used. Businesses need to embrace the change and adapt quickly if they desire to remain relevant within their respective market. In order to make a website consistent with Google’s new guidelines, they need to focus on adjusting the size of content, its configuration and the contextual spacing of the site.

Trade Shows Still Matter for Your Business

NEWT Trade show

Christine Brisson and Andrew Derayeh in Windsor

There are more directions a marketer can go today than ever before.

According to Smart Incites, 112 in fact. Can any one company manage that many? Not a chance, so marketers have to pick and choose. Since there are so many channels available, some of the oldest, yet most effective, have been lost in the option avalanche.

Like trade shows.

Trade shows are a tried, tested and true way to enhance lead generation, brand awareness, PR and generate contacts, yet they are suffering from a bad reputation because they seem so, well, old. Trade shows have been around for many years, however, businesses shouldn’t question their effectiveness because the stats tell an interesting story.

A report outlined by the Center for Exhibition Industry Research explains that “81% of trade show attendees have buying authority, which means more than 4 out of 5 people walking the aisles are potential customers for exhibitors.” This is significant because trade shows allow your business to communicate with new consumers, leading to an increase in the awareness of your products, and potentially substantial product sales.

In addition, “78% of trade show attendees travel more than 400 miles to attend an exhibition”. This allows your business to connect with a national audience and continue to grow and develop your brand. When looking deeper into the value of trade shows, further research specified that “99% of marketers said they found unique value from trade shows they did not get from other marketing mediums.”

Trade shows provide organizations with the opportunity to have face-to-face contact with customers, resellers and other businesses. This helps to build prospects and create professional relationships with consumers. Also, trade shows provide companies with the chance to learn more about other businesses and developments within their industry. Lastly, a majority of trade shows heavily advertise their events, leading to extra media coverage and press for your organization.

Calculating ROI When the Goal is a Number of Leads

Unlike many other marketing channels calculating the ROI for trade shows is a matter of simple math. Simply put, what’s the total number for expenses compared to the number of leads generated? When adding up your expenses and punching these numbers into the calculator don’t forget to exclude certain costs from the trade show. Some would take the cost of the booth and call that your expense. There are other cost areas to consider when tallying this number, here’s a couple to consider:

  • Travel
  • Room and board
  • Meals and snacks
  • Tech services

If the resultant tally is below your standard cost per lead, for you trade shows are a winner.

That’s a big reason we, NEWT, are focusing heavily on trade shows this year. For us they are a fantastic channel for us to get the word out. We try to focus on show verticals where we have a proven track record, like car dealerships with multiple locations. Since we have so many in our customer base, we have great stories to tell.

The NEWT marketing team are able to connect with various consumers and can work towards understanding their needs and how our products can help them. Further, NEWT benefits from expanded brand awareness, free PR and media, all of which we can leverage on our social channels.

The NEWT PBX, along with other technologically advanced NEWT products have sophisticated features to enhance productivity of an organization while providing a simple, managed solution, ultimately helping the company cut business phone expenses. It’s a great story to tell and trade shows work for us.

“Hybrid Solutions are the New Standard in VoIP Access and SIP Trunking Services Market”

Frost & SullivanFounded in 1961, Frost and Sullivan has more than 40 global offices with more than 1,800 industry consultants, market research analysts, technology analysts and economists. They are a growth partnership company focused on helping their clients achieve transformational growth as they work through an economic environment dominated by accelerating change, increasing risk and the powerful disruptive impact of the conversion of new business models, disruptive technologies and mega trends on their industries.

World leaders in growth consulting and the integrated areas of technology research, market research, mega trends, economic research, best practices, training, customer research, competitive intelligence, and corporate strategy, they are helping their clients keep up with the ever changing and uber-competitive marketplace of today.

Their recent research paper on the future of business telephony is of particular interest for NEWT as their recommended solution, and what they predict is going to be the standard for the industry going forward, is precisely the model the NEWT Business Phones System and NEWT One SIP Trunk products are following:

The voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) access and session initiation protocol (SIP) trunking services market continues its rise as the de-facto communications link from business customers’ premises to service providers’ networks.

  • SIP trunking services will play heavily in the emerging trend of hybrid cloud communications. Many businesses are now incorporating a mix of on-premises and cloud-based unified communications applications and services to most effectively deliver unified communications (UC) to their users.
  • As businesses migrate to an end-to-end IP-based UC infrastructure, VoIP access and SIP trunking services become a logical choice, enabling organizations to eliminate legacy telecom interfaces.
  • In 2013, the market grew by 34.9 percent in terms of installed users, and by 18.8 percent in terms of revenue. Revenue growth is forecast at 21.2 percent over the period 2013-2020.

Last week we were visited by Elka Popova from Frost & Sullivan and she was impressed both with our culture and with the products and services we provide. We were both happy to welcome her to our offices and pleased that she approves of our vision.

Business Phone Hybrid Solution is the Game Changer

If you have been involved in the purchase or deployment of business phone systems, you are most likely familiar with the various types available in the market. The on-premise business phone system, which has all the necessary equipment located on-site within your business and physical business lines, connects to the Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN). Purely hosted solutions connects a router from within your business to a “data cloud,” and from there to the PSTN.

However, it has become clear that the “hybrid system,” a combination of both the on-premise and hosted solutions, is quickly establishing itself as the new standard within North America moving forward. The hybrid system amplifies the advantages of both hosted and on-premise systems while eliminates the drawbacks by reducing costs, managing maintenance issues and potential security problems.

Delivering the Hybrid Solution with SIP Trunking Services

Due to this technology shift, the market for both Hybrid Phone Systems and SIP Trunking Services are both predicted to grow immensely because their capabilities are helping businesses to increase operational efficiency and reduce risk. According to research from Frost & Sullivan, a Growth Partnership Company:

“SIP trunking services will play heavily in the emerging trend of hybrid cloud communications. Many businesses are now incorporating a mix of on-premises and cloud-based unified communications applications and services to most effectively deliver unified communications (UC) to their users.”

Hybrid solutions offer an advanced business phone system which is able to help organizations increase in proficiency, ultimately helping their growth and prosperity. Consumers are quickly learning the benefits that the hybrid business phone system has to offer. Further research from Frost & Sullivan showed that “in 2013, the market grew by 34.9 percent in terms of installed users.”

NEWT Business Phone System is a true hybrid solution and the business NEWT One SIP Trunk is designed to enable businesses to easily convert to VoIP telephony.  The NEWT One has established a simple pathway for businesses to replace their existing service or convert legacy phone systems to VoIP. The NEWT One is connected through Fibernetics’ private network, increasing quality, security and allowing for greater call capacity. A scalable product, the NEWT One is capable of growing along with your business. Due to Direct Inward Dial, one of the many unique features of this product, businesses have the ability to create a presence in various cities across Canada without actually having a physical location.NEWT One

NEWT’s business phone system is a fully managed, end-to-end solution, meaning that NEWT is there throughout the entire process to install the system that will fulfil your business needs. The perks of NEWT One doesn’t stop there, with extensive advanced features and a support team available 24/7/365, NEWT will ensure all employees are trained so that your business can properly harness the true power of NEWT One. In addition to its ability to enhance efficiency and help customer relationship management, the NEWT One is extremely cost effective and can aid organizations in their quest to cut expenses. With a customer retention rate of nearly 100%, NEWT is dedicated to ensuring consumer happiness and satisfaction.

Hybrid Phone Systems, though highly rated, are limited to just a few vendors. The NEWT hybrid solution is even more unique as it runs on its own proprietary network further expanding the benefits.
