John Stix is the president of Fibernetics, the parent company of NEWT, its business services division. In the summer of 2013 he noticed that his company, though thriving in the Canadian telecom marketplace, was falling short in the cultural end of things.
Something was missing.
Over the next few months he immersed himself in learning about corporate culture and how to not only improve it, but how to be innovative in developing an entire new way about doing business. He took on culture as his primary task because he discovered through his research, good companies have okay culture. Great ones are off the charts.
Working with a select group of fellow culture warriors from different facets of the company like HR, marketing, operations and sales, he put together the “I’m in!” initiative, spelling out for the team his vision of going from good to great.
The video above is his take on the event and the results they have had on his company in just a few months. Improving culture is not a one-day event, it’s an everyday process, but John and his team sure got off to a good start.
